The song "With You (Just The Two of Us)" was released in April 2023. The music video was created with no budget, leveraging natural lighting within an indoor setting for the majority of the shots. The video was entirely pre-produced, shot, and edited by me. Despite facing several obstacles that led to a week-long shooting process, the project was immensely enjoyable to work on.
Location and Lighting
The video was meticulously divided into three distinct locations, each contributing to the visual narrative in a unique way. Two of these locales basked in the warmth of natural daylight.
The third location, a recording studio, took on a different persona as it was illuminated by pre-installed RGB lights. These vibrant lights painted the scene with a mesmerizing palette, infusing a touch of artistic intrigue into the video's composition.
Shots and Equipment
We used a Canon 200D Mark II camera, not really meant for videos, but we made it work well. To deal with tricky lighting, we used a blacklight filter that helped soften the harsh background lights.
Most of the shots were taken while holding the camera, which gave the video a natural and real feel. We also used a tripod for some shots where stability was important, especially for the b-rolls, this made the video look smooth and polished compared to the handheld shots.
Post Processing
The video underwent editing in Da Vinci Resolve. We opted for a filmic aesthetic coupled with a nostalgic retro vibe.
